What does Halifax Temporary Car Insurance cover?

Your policy will provide:

  • comprehensive cover for loss, theft, damage and fire
  • legal expenses – covering legal costs up to £5,000,000 related to claims made against you.

What’s covered?

  • Business use is covered as standard.
  • Personal belongings cover in the event of vehicle loss or damage.
  • Liability cover – up to £5,000,000 in legal costs, subject to our consent.
  • Personal damage cover against accidental damage for any vehicles involved in an accident.
  • Personal accident cover of up to £2,500 per claim, or £5,000 per insurance year.
  • Vans and motor homes too.

What isn’t covered?

  • Confiscation, requisition, or destruction under order of government, public or local authorities.
  • Damage due to hire and reward activities, like carrying passengers or parcels for payment.
  • Any vehicle weighing over 3.5 tonnes, with more than eight seats, or an engine size over 3,999cc.
  • Drivers and vehicles not named on the temporary car insurance policy.
  • Mechanical or electrical damage caused by general wear and tear.
  • Loss or damage due to filling up with the wrong fuel.
  • Courtesy cars.

To apply for Halifax Temporary Car Insurance, you’ll need to:

  • be aged 18 to 75 years
  • have a valid GB driving licence
  • have permission from the vehicle owner
  • know the vehicle registration.
